Robin Thicke scored his first number one album on this week’s Billboard 200, and if projections hold, another veteran act could make its debut atop the sales chart next week.
Based on one day sales, Billboard estimates that The Civil Wars’ self-titled new album will win next week’s race on the strength of roughly 100,000 sales.
Assuming it keeps its current pace, the folk duo’s album should narrowly defeat NOW 47, which will likely land in the 95K range. Thicke’s “Blurred Lines,” which moved more than 175,000 copies this week, will fall enough in week two to miss out on a second week atop the chart.
