His character’s fate ended on a cliffhanger, but viewers will not have to wait until the fall to find out if he will ever resurface on “Scandal.”
Word came Friday that Scott Foley, who recurred as Jake Ballard on season two of “Scandal,” will return as a regular in season three.
“I’m thrilled to join such a talented, enthusiastic and professional group of people,” said Foley in a statement. “Shonda and company have created a troupe of layered complex characters and to be able to be part of that is both exciting and humbling.”
A key part of the show during its late-season ratings (and acclaim) explosion, Ballard’s return to the mix seemed a no-brainer. But given the cliffhanger in last month’s finale–Ballard, who betrayed a directive from his B-613 leadership, found himself trapped in the hole once occupied by Huck–there remained doubt that Scott Foley’s character would be seen again, let alone on a regular basis in season three.
Outside of his recurring role on “Scandal,” Foley has recently been available to viewers on FOX’s “The Goodwin Games.” The series, which saw its status reduced to a summer burn-off on FOX, has been airing on Mondays.
