TV News: “24” Character Returns, “Glee,” “Zeroes”

— Mark Neveldine and Brian Taylor, the duo behind action films like “Gamer,” “Crank” and “Jonah Hex,” are booked to write and direct a potential pilot at NBC, reports THR.

Called “Zeroes,” the series focuses on the final hour of a crisis situation.

“We want to drop right into it and sustain the absolute most berserk state of crisis, when all of the options have been exhausted,” said Taylor. “We want to take that last 60 minutes and sustain it for the entire show.”

The title refers to the last resort team that is “absolutely ruthless” in its use of force in resolving the crisis.

Universal Media Studios and BermanBraun are behind the potential production.

— “Sweet Caroline,” a single from the most recent round of “Glee” studio recordings, debuted at number 34 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100. A top twenty download, the song ranks as the fourth-highest-charting “Glee” single to date, behind “Don’t Stop Believin’,” “Somebody to Love” and “It’s My Life/Confessions.” Among singles generally showcasing one cast member (Mark Salling, in this case), it is the best performer.

— Gregory Itzin has booked a returning guest arc on the upcoming season of “24,” reports EW. Itzin reprises his role of former President Charles Logan in assisting Cherry Jones’ President Taylor with a diplomatic crisis.
