“Southland” Officially Secures New TV Home

From the minute NBC announced its cancellation, “Southland” was the subject of cable pickup rumors. Everyone–from critics to fans–expected a network like TNT or FX to jump in and save the series.

After all the speculation, the acclaimed cop drama finally has a home.

TNT announced that “Southland” will move to the cable network; it picked up the seven previously-broadcast season one episodes and the six unaired season two episodes.

With plans to air the episodes as a thirteen episode first season, TNT will bring “Southland” back onto the air in January.

“Southland,” which stars Ben McKenzie, Regina King and Michael Cudlitz as part of an ensemble, mixes serialized elements with gritty, procedural police drama.
