In recent months, the US iTunes store has been offering rotating collections of discounted songs.
The digital retailer introduced “69-cent Rock Hits,” its latest collection, on Friday. By Saturday, several of the discounted songs had vaulted into the upper reaches of the all-genre sales chart.
Creedence Clearwater Revival’s classic “Have You Ever Seen The Rain” currently leads the way among these discounted “rock hits.” It presently holds #3 on the chart, trailing only Walker Hayes’ “Fancy Like” (#1) and Nelly & Florida Georgia Line’s “Lil Bit” (#2).
3 Doors Down’s “Kryptonite” and Lynyrd Skynyrd’s “Sweet Home Alabama,” two other members of the new discount playlist, also hold Top 10 positions. The former is #7 as of press time at 9PM ET Saturday, while the latter is #10.
Disturbed’ “Sound Of Silence,” another member of the playlist, made the Top 10 following the launch Friday. It is now #11.
