Ratings: US Version Of “Love Island” Holds Steady For Second Episode

CBS’ “Love Island” held steady on night two.

Given that the UK version is a legitimate pop culture phenomenon, the modest ratings for the debut of the US “Love Island” came as a major disappointment. Ratings for Tuesday’s episode pale in comparison to those routinely posted by “Big Brother,” let alone the lofty standard some had for the series.

The show did, however, avoid a disappointing drop for episode two.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, Wednesday’s episode drew a 0.6 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 2.69 million overall viewers. The demo rating matches that attained by Tuesday’s premiere, while the viewership figure represents a slight increase (Tuesday’s opener drew 2.61 million).

Granted, Wednesday’s broadcast faced much lighter competition. The numbers, moreover, markedly trail the 1.0 rating and 4.09 million viewership mark drawn by the 9PM “Big Brother” airing.

Still, given that many shows decline on the heels of their premiere, the stability is surely welcome.
