Ratings: “Rent Live” Doesn’t Wow, Still Leads FOX To Sunday Victory

“Rent” led FOX to a victory in the adults 18-49 demographic.

Sunday’s live broadcast of “Rent” did not perform nearly as well as FOX’s 2016 “Grease Live” broadcast. It also trailed the network’s 2017 airing of “A Christmas Story Live.”

The three-hour special did, however, power FOX to a Sunday night victory.

According to fast national data posted by Showbuzz, “Rent Live” drew a 1.3 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 3.42 million overall viewers.

The 1.3 rating gave FOX the demo victory from 8-11PM Sunday.

There were, of course, some negative dimensions to the performance. The broadcast lost viewers as it progressed, dropping from 3.77 million in the 8PM hour to just 3.10 million in the 10PM block.

It also markedly trailed the 4.3 rating and 12.21 million viewer figure garnered by “Grease Live” on a similar weekend in 2016.

The December 2017 “A Christmas Story” broadcast drew a 1.5 and 4.52 million.

The numbers also trail those delivered by NBC’s series of live musicals.
