Drake’s “Scorpion” Finally Available For Streaming On Spotify (Update)

“Scorpion” was not available until after 2AM ET.

Update: Drake’s eagerly anticipated album “Scorpion” debuted on numerous digital services (including iTunes, Apple Music and TIDAL) at or around 12AM ET Friday morning.

It did not, however, make an immediate debut on Spotify.

Fans spent the first two hours of Friday wondering why the biggest album of the year was not available on the world’s biggest streaming service. The official @SpotifyCares Twitter account offered nothing in the way of answers, merely asking noting that it would have the album “available to you as soon as it’s available to us.”

That availability came at around 2:12AM ET Friday morning.

Consisting of twenty-five tracks and now available on all the major streaming platforms, “Scorpion” is a virtual lock to set the opening week US streaming record. The record of 431 million US streams currently belongs to Post Malone’s “Beerbongs & Bentleys.”

As of press time at 1:30AM ET, the biggest album of the year is conspicuously absent from the biggest streaming platform on the planet.

While Drake’s double album “Scorpion” launched on other digital services (including iTunes, Apple Music and TIDAL) at or around midnight, it has not yet debuted on Spotify.

The album’s absence from Spotify has become a major talking point on social media, with many fans directing questions to the @SpotifyCares Twitter account.

Thus far, the account has not provided much in the way of details.

“We’re afraid we don’t have any info right now,” reads a typical response from the Spotify customer care account. “Rest assured that we’ll have it available to you as soon as it’s available to us!”

The Drake camp has not yet commented on the matter.
