BLACKPINK’s “Square Up” EP Debuts In Top 40 On Billboard 200

“Square Up” makes this week’s Billboard 200 chart.

BLACKPINK’s “Square Up” EP debuts prominently on this week’s edition of the US Billboard 200 chart.

The album starts at #40 on this week’s listing.

While a #40 bow may not always be cause for celebration, it is particularly impressive in this case.

BLACKPINK is a K-pop girl group with a limited footprint in the United States. As a four-track EP, the record itself faces an uphill battle from a chart standpoint.

The “EP” distinction limits its appeal from a sales standpoint, while the small number of tracks puts a ceiling on the amount of units it could generate from TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500).

The buzz and passionate fan support nonetheless drove what Billboard reports as 14,000 US consumption units.
