Sunday, Billboard revealed that Camila Cabello’s “Camila” debuted at #1 on its Billboard 200 chart.
Monday, news emerged that lead single “Havana (featuring Young Thug)” claims #1 on this week’s Billboard Hot 100.
“Havana,” which was #2 last week, seizes the throne from Ed Sheeran’s “Perfect.”
In doing so, “Havana” becomes Camila Cabello’s first #1 hit in the United States.
Prior to “Havana,” the artist had twice peaked at #4 on the Hot 100: with her Machine Gun Kelly collaboration “Bad Things” and as part of Fifth Harmony’s “Work From Home.”
“Havana” is also the first #1 hit for Young Thug.
The Hot 100 ranks songs based on combined activity from sales, streams and radio airplay. The combination of an iTunes discount, a high-profile “Ellen” performance, a classroom instruments “Fallon” performance and interest stemming from the album release fueled gains on the sales front. The album buzz and performances also helped with streaming.
