“Star Wars: The Last Jedi” Edges “Jumanji” At US Friday Box Office

“Pitch Perfect 3,” “The Greatest Showman,” and “Ferdinand” also finished in the Top 5.

With no blockbuster releases entering the market, “Star Wars: The Last Jedi” and “Jumanji: Welcome To The Jungle” had no trouble dominating the US box office on Friday.

“Star Wars,” which has won the past two weekend races, was Friday’s #1 film. It added $19.1 million to its haul.

“Jumanji” followed with $17.8 million in Friday receipts.

Analysts expect “Star Wars” to retain its lead through Sunday — and secure a third consecutive weekend box office crown.

Credited with $6.6 million in receipts, “Pitch Perfect 3” took third place at the Friday box office. “The Greatest Showman” followed in fourth with $5.4 million, while a gross of $4.5 million positioned “Ferdinand” as the day’s #5 film.
