Ratings: “A Very Pentatonix Christmas Special” Takes Second In Timeslot, But Falls From Last Year

The second Pentatonix Christmas special drew fewer viewers than the first.

On the one hand, this year’s Pentatonix Christmas special drew fewer viewers than the 2016 edition — despite receiving lead-in support from one of NBC’s biggest shows.

On the other hand, Monday’s broadcast still delivered solid marks by contemporary ratings standards.

According to final national data posted by Showbuzz, Monday’s “A Very Pentatonix Christmas Special” broadcast drew a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating and averaged 5.47 million overall viewers at 10PM.

It aired out of “The Voice,” which drew a 1.9 rating and 9.60 million viewers from 8-10PM.

Last year’s “A Pentatonix Christmas Special” posted a 1.4 in adults 18-49 and 7.49 million in overall viewership. It aired at 8PM ET on Wednesday, December 14.

Despite the year-over-year decline, the numbers are still good for a primetime telecast in 2017.

The special was its timeslot’s #2 network program in adults 18-49; it trailed ABC’s “The Good Doctor” but beat CBS’ “Scorpion.” It was third among those programs in overall viewership.

Last year’s special actually placed fourth in its timeslot for adults 18-49 — it lost to FOX’s “Empire,” CBS’ “Survivor,” and ABC’s “Goldbergs”/”Speechless” tandem. It was third (beneath “Survivor” and “Empire”) for overall viewership.
