US Weekend Box Office: “Thor: Ragnarok” Stays #1; “Daddy’s Home 2,” “Orient Express” Follow

“Ragnarok” predictably retains its box office throne, while the weekend’s two big new releases land in the Top 3.

In an utterly unsurprising outcome, “Thor: Ragnork” tops a second consecutive US weekend box office chart.

The song added #56.6 million to its haul this weekend. The tally, which nearly doubles that of the weekend’s #2 film, brings the cumulative “Ragnarok” total to $211.6 million.

New release “Daddy’s Home 2” earns #2 on this weekend’s chart. The film’s opening weekend gross of $30.0 million trails the $38.7 million posted by the 2015 original (which, it should be noted, benefited from launching during Christmas weekend).

Fellow newcomer “Murder On The Orient Express” debuts at #3 with $28.2 million.

Down two places, “A Bad Moms Christmas” grabs #4 with $11.5 million (cume now $39.9 million).

Also down two places, “Jigsaw” settles for #5 with another $3.4 million in receipts (cume now $34.4 million).
