“Happy Death Day” Leads US Friday Box Office, “The Foreigner” Follows

“Happy Death Day” convincingly took first place at the US Friday box office.

“Happy Death Day” predictably ranked as Friday’s #1 film in the US.

The new release closed its first day with $11.6 million in receipts. The count, which positions the film for an opening weekend in the $24-28 million range, more than doubles that of Friday’s #2 film.

Fellow new release “The Foreigner,” that #2 film, earned $4.7 million.

Credited with $4.3 million, “Blade Runner 2049” ranked as Friday’s #3 film. It will likely move into the #2 spot by the end of the weekend.

“It” (#4, $1.9 million) and “The Mountain Between Us” (#5, $1.7 million) complete the Friday Top 5.
