Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” Reclaims #1 On US iTunes Following Discount

Taylor’s “Look What You Made Me Do” overtakes Post Malone’s “rockstar.”

Benefiting from ongoing buzz and a discounted price point, Taylor Swift’s “Look What You Made Me Do” has returned to #1 on the US iTunes sales chart.

It holds that pinnacle position as of 1:10PM ET Friday.

“Look What You Made Me Do” recaptured the throne from Post Malone’s “rockstar (featuring 21 Savage),” which has ruled since last Friday night.

The aforementioned discount reduced the price of “Look What You Made Me Do” to $0.69.

Discounting has become an increasingly common tactic for boosting chart performance. Reducing a song’s price tends to increase sales, which has a direct impact on chart position.

There is also a perception benefit; a high position on the chart suggests that the song is “connecting,” which may encourage radio to increase airplay.

Imagine Dragons’ “Thunder” (#3), Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” (#4) and Portugal. The Man’s “Feel It Still” (#5) complete the current Top 5 on iTunes. “Bodak Yellow” is also discounted.
