Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” Reaches #1 On US iTunes Sales Chart

The 1980s classic dethrones “Despacito” as the world readies for the eclipse.

A song just dethroned Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber)” on the US iTunes sales chart.

It is not a surprise release from an artist like Taylor Swift. It is not a “current” hit like Bieber & BloodPop’s “Friends,” DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts,” Liam Payne’s “Strip That Down” or Niall Horan’s “Slow Hands.”

Rather, it is a song from 1983.

In conjunction with today’s solar eclipse, Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse Of The Heart” claims #1 on the listing as of press time at 12:30PM ET.

Owing to eclipse anticipation, the song has been in the Top 100 since this past Thursday. It was not until today, however, that it soared into the upper reaches of the chart.
