Luis Fonsi, Daddy Yankee & Justin Bieber’s “Despacito” Earns #1 On 15th Billboard Hot 100

“Despacito” is one week away from tying the all-time record.

DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts (featuring Rihanna & Bryson Tiller)” benefited from an iTunes discount and aggressive promotion this past week.

It could not, however, dethrone Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee’s “Despacito (featuring Justin Bieber)” on the Billboard Hot 100.

“Despacito” spends a 15th consecutive week at #1. It is thus one week away from tying the 16-week record held by Mariah Carey & Boyz II Men’s “One Sweet Day.”

DJ Khaled’s “Wild Thoughts” remains prominent and Cardi B’s “Bodak Yellow” is quickly amassing momentum, but few expect either to catch “Despacito” by next week. The belief, therefore, is that “Despacito” has a clear path to tying the record.

Beating it, however, could become particularly challenging if Taylor Swift’s new single arrives before (or early into) the next tracking week.

But let’s focus on this week’s Hot 100 for now. Specifically, let’s look at the Top 10:
10) Sam Hunt – Body Like A Back Road (+1)
9) Ed Sheeran – Shape Of You (=)
8) Bruno Mars – That’s What I Like (-1)
7) Shawn Mendes – There’s Nothing Holdin’ Me Back (-2)
6) Charlie Puth – Attention (-2)
5) Imagine Dragons – Believer (-1)
4) French Montana – Unforgettable ft. Swae Lee (-1)
3) Cardi B – Bodak Yellow (+5)
2) DJ Khaled – Wild Thoughts ft. Rihanna & Bryson Tiller (=)
1) Luis Fonsi & Daddy Yankee – Despacito ft. Justin Bieber (=)
