NBC’s immensely popular and acclaimed “This Is Us” predictably made a big splash in this year’s Emmy nominations announcement.
The series, most notably, scored a nomination for Outstanding Drama Series. It is the only broadcast network series amid a field that also includes “House Of Cards,” “Westworld,” “Stranger Things,” “The Crown,” “Better Call Saul,” and “The Handmaid’s Tale.”
“This Is Us” also received several key acting nominations.
Milo Ventimiglia and Sterling K. Brown will both compete in the Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series category. Other nominees include Anthony Hopkins, Bob Odenkirk, Matthew Rhys, Liev Schreiber and Kevin Spacey.
Ron Cephas Jones earned a nod in the Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama field, where he will contend with Mandy Patinkin, Jonathan Banks, Jon Lithgow, Jeffrey Wright, David Harbour and Michael Kelly.
Chrissy Metz will partake in the Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama race. Her competition includes Ann Dowd, Samira Wiley, Uzo Aduba, Millie Bobby Brown, and Thandie Newton.
Guest actors Gerald McRaney, Denis O’Hare and Bryan Tyree Henry will compete with Ben Mendelsohn, BD Wong and Hank Azaria.
“This Is Us” also picked up nominations for Casting, Contemporary Costumes and Makeup for a Single-Cam.
