Lorde’s “Melodrama” Pacing For 65-70K US Sales, 85-90K US Units

Lorde’s new album will likely debut at #1 on the US album charts.

Early sales projections have emerged for Lorde’s “Melodrama,” and they suggest the album is on pace for a #1 debut.

Based on opening day sales data, Hits Daily Double expects the artist’s sophomore album to sell 65-70,000 pure US copies this week.

With TEA (track sales/10) and SEA (track streams/1500) included, “Melodrama” is expected generate 85-90,000 in total first-week consumption units.

Barring any surprise releases or unexpected developments, the former should be enough for #1 on Billboard Top Album Sales. The latter figure should earn “Melodrama” the top spot on the Billboard 200.

“Melodrama” is the follow-up to Lorde’s 2013 debut “Pure Heroine,” which debuted at #3 on the then-sales-only Billboard 200. It sold 129,000 first-week copies in the US.
