It may have posted the franchise’s weakest three-day number since the 2003 original, but “Pirates Of The Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales” still dominated the US box office.
According to studio estimates, “Dead Men” earned $62.2 million in the first three days of the four-day Memorial Day Weekend.
More than triple that earned by the #2 film, the count easily positions “Dead Men” at #1.
“Guardians Of The Galaxy, Vol. 2” takes #2 for the three-day weekend. It earned $19.9 million, bringing its cumulative total to $333.2 million.
Newcomer “Baywatch” grabs #3 with an underwhelming $18.1 million (cume of $22.7 million with Thursday included), while “Alien: Covenant” falls three spots to #4 with $10.5 million (cume now $57.3 million).
“Everything, Everything,” which earned $6.2 million (cume now $21.5 million), earns #5 on the three-day chart. It was #3 last weekend.
