The much-discussed “Big Bang Theory” prequel is officially a go.
In a Monday press statement, CBS confirmed that it ordered “Young Sheldon” to series. The half-hour comedy will premiere during the 2017-18 season.
Jon Favreau is directing the premiere.
“Created by Chuck Lorre & Steven Molaro, the series follows “The Big Bang Theory’s” Sheldon Cooper at the age of 9, living with his family in East Texas and going to high school,” says CBS of the new show.
Iain Armitage stars as the titular young Sheldon, while Zoe Perry, Lance Barber, Raegan Revord and Montana Jordan are also regulars.
Jim Parsons, who plays the adult Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory,” will narrate.
