Tony Almeida Returns On Monday’s “24: Legacy,” Details On What To Expect

The previous hour was a particular rough one in the “24: Legacy” universe.

Amira carried out her mission to detonate a bomb on the George Washington Bridge. Many innocent Americans lost their lives in the blast.

As he processed the horrifying event, Eric learned of a more personal crisis: his wife and brother had been kidnapped by Jadalla bin-Khalid’s men.

Monday’s episode continues in the aftermath. CTU must continue to work leads — notably Henry — in pursuit of Jadalla and the flash drive containing sleeper cell codes. Eric must pursue that aim while also working to ensure his family’s safety.

Chronicling the hour between 6:00 PM-7:00 PM, Monday’s episode also welcomes back a “24” original.

Below, we’ve detailed four things you should expect in this week’s episode. We also shared official FOX production photos.

Tony Returns
Hype for this week’s episode has largely — and deservedly — focused on one key element: the return of original “24” character Tony Almeida (Carlos Bernard).

As CTU’s by-the-book questioning of Henry hits a dead end, Rebecca and Keith opt to employ “enhanced interrogation” tactics. Since they cannot use such an approach within the walls of CTU, Rebecca arranges for an old contact — Tony — to “kidnap” Henry and bring him to a black site. There, Tony and his team will more aggressively work to extract the truth of Henry’s communication with Jadalla.

The episode, it should be noted, is very focused on the “now.” We receive a minor note about Tony’s history with Rebecca, but we do not receive anything approximating a full “debrief” on his whereabouts since “Live Another Day.”

Eric Seeks More Help From Andy
Late in last week’s episode, Jadalla bin-Khalid’s team kidnapped Eric’s wife Nicole and brother Isaac.

Jadalla subsequently threatened to kill them if Eric did not provide assistance in restoring the flash drive containing the sleeper cell codes.

Given no time to mull over the ultimatum, Eric immediately begins to formulate a plan.

Eric’s plan, naturally, involves Andy — the analyst and programmer who is becoming the Chloe to his Jack.

Eric’s invitation is a “big ask,” but Andy ultimately accepts.

Threats To The Plan
Even if all the cards fall precisely into place, Eric’s plan, as viewers quickly learn, will not yield a universally happy ending.

And there is no guarantee said cards will fall into place.

For starters, the plan requires Eric and Andy to operate outside the auspices of CTU. Eric is suited for this kind of covert operation; Andy, a nervous desk analyst with limited field training, is absolutely not. Will they really be able to avoid suspicion? And if CTU does catch a whiff of the plan, how will Eric and Andy respond?

Jadalla, moreover, is a vicious terrorist — and thus a wildcard in the operation. Can he be trusted to do exactly as he promises?

Carter Family Bonding
When the day began, Eric and Nicole had an estranged, tense relationship with Eric’s brother Isaac.

Isaac’s involvement in the drug business is partially to blame, but the real source of the tension is the perception that Eric “stole” Nicole from his brother.

That tension has been easing in the face of the day’s dramatic and traumatic events. Nicole and Isaac have been bonding in their joint quest to survive.

The bleak circumstances surrounding their kidnapping brings them even closer together. As they legitimately fear for their lives, their past animosity (as well as the resentment Isaac has been harboring toward Eric) seems rather trivial.
