Cinemax’s “Outcast” Ratings Fall In Week Three

Friday’s “Outcast,” which marked the Cinemax series’ third episode, suffered week-to-week losses in adults 18-49 and total viewership.

According to national data posted by Showbuzz, “Outcast” drew a 0.06 adults 18-49 rating and 170,000 total live+same-day viewers. The previous episode drew a 0.07 adults 18-49 rating and 193,000, which marked increases from the 0.06 and 152,000 figures posted by the series premiere.

Live+same-day ratings tell only a portion of the story for the series, which surely grows its audience thanks to on-demand, re-run and streaming viewership.

That fact does not, however, take the sting out of the live+same-day numbers, which are bad even when judged as such. “Outcast” shares lineage with “The Walking Dead” and received considerable hype, yet its early numbers do not top those routinely delivered in the second season of Cinemax’s own “The Knick.”

They trail those routinely delivered in the last season of “Banshee.”
