The season finale of HBO’s “Vinyl” trailed the penultimate episode in adults 18-49 and total viewership. Lead-out “Girls” also endured week-to-week losses.
According to national data posted by Showbuzz, Sunday’s “Vinyl” drew a 0.20 adults 18-49 rating and 0.73 million total viewers. The previous week’s broadcast posted a 0.24 and 0.75 million.
This week’s adults 18-49 rating actually ties a series low, but the viewership figure — which is more important to a subscription-based network — is well above the show’s floor.
“Vinyl” was a modest live+same-day ratings performer out of the gate, but it managed to secure a second season renewal after just one episode.
— Sunday’s “Vinyl” led into back-to-back “Girls” episodes; the 10PM broadcast drew a 0.24 rating and 0.58 million total viewers, while the 10:30PM season finale posted a 0.21 rating and 0.51 million total viewers.
The marks for both episodes trail the 0.26 rating and 0.66 million viewership mark drawn by the April 10 “Girls.”
“Girls” returns for a sixth and final season next year.
