“Awkward” Sets New Viewership Low, “Faking It” Slips In Ratings

On a live+same-day basis, Tuesday’s “Awkward” was the worst-performing episode yet. It tied a series low in adults 18-49 and set a new one in total viewership.

According to Showbuzz, the episode — the third of Season 5B — drew a 0.25 adults 18-49 rating and 0.48 million total viewers. Last week’s drew a 0.31 and 0.58 million.

The 0.25 rating ties the series low set by the March 15 Season 5B premiere. Prior to that, “Awkward” had not gone below a 0.28.

Prior to this week’s episode, viewership had never fallen below the 0.50 million mark posted on October 12, 2015.

It should be noted that ratings for “Awkward” have dramatically weakened since the start of the summer/fall 2015 season. Prior to that cycle, only a handful of episodes even drew fewer than 1 million live+same-day viewers.

Of the fifteen episodes that have aired in 2015 and 2016, only one — the Season 5A premiere — has drawn more than 1 million total viewers. Several have drawn fewer than 600,000.

— Tuesday’s “Awkward” led into “Faking It,” which posted a 0.19 rating and a viewership sum of 0.37 million. The numbers trail the 0.21 and 0.40 million drawn last week but are above the series low 0.13 rating and 0.28 million viewership sum posted by the previous week’s season premiere.

Like those of “Awkward,” “Faking It” ratings have declined considerably since the start of the summer 2015 half season.
