Friday’s “Undateable Live” premiere posted soft marks in adults 18-49 and total viewership.
Per Nielsen fast national data, Friday’s hourlong season premiere drew a 0.8 adults 18-49 rating and 2.561 million viewers from 8-9PM.
The performance was the weakest for an “Undateable” episode since the inaugural season, which aired during the summer of 2014.
Granted, expectations could not have been particularly high. In moving to its new Friday at 8PM timeslot, “Undateable” shifted to a weaker night and lost direct lead-in support from NBC’s “The Voice.”
Moreover, last year’s live “Undateable” special (1.3, 4.21 million) failed to markedly outperform the show’s typical, non-live episodes. It may be a lauded concept, but the live concept has not proven its value as a ratings draw.
Among the major broadcast networks, NBC ranked third during the 8PM hour; its “Undateable” broadcast trailed ABC’s “Last Man Standing”/”Dr. Ken” hour (1.3/6.315 million | 1.3/5.777 million) and CBS’ “The Amazing Race” (1.1, 5.886 million).
NBC’s Friday night also included “Dateline” (0.9, 4.542 million viewers from 9-11PM).
