Ryan Adams’ “1989” Drove 13.3K Sales in Week Two; Taylor Swift Sold Another 21.9K

Unable to avoid the inevitable — and typical — week two decline, Ryan Adams’ “1989” still managed a five-figure sales total during the September 25-October 1 tracking week.

According to Nielsen Music, the critically acclaimed take on Taylor Swift’s blockbuster sold 13,343 US copies during its second week of release.

Down 73% from the album’s opening week total (49,316), the mark resulted in a two-week cume of 62,659.

While Adams’ take on “1989” outperformed Taylor Swift’s during the September 18-24 tracking week, the original version posted a stronger total in the subsequent week. Per Nielsen, “1989” sold an additional 21,875 pure US copies during the September 25-October 1 frame.

Swift’s “1989” boasts a cumulative total of roughly 5.3 million.
