Cold War Kids’ “First” Returns To #1 Alt Radio; Death Cab, Nathaniel Rateliff Go Top 10

Three weeks ago, Cold War Kids’ “First” ceded its alternative radio airplay throne to Elle King’s “Ex’s and Oh’s.”

This week, it reclaims that throne.

Spun 2,759 times during the September 20-26 tracking week (+83), “First” returns to the apex of Mediabase’s alternative airplay chart. It was last week’s #2 song.

The aforementioned “Ex’s and Oh’s” slips to #2 (2,686, -48), while X Ambassadors’ “Renegades” holds at #3 (2,648, -26). AWOLNATION’s “I Am” (#4, = | 2,095, +120) and The Struts’ “Could Have Been Me” (#5, = | 2,002, +83).

— While this week’s Top 5 is without a new entry, two songs make inaugural appearances in the Top 10.

Up four places, Death Cab For Cutie’s “The Ghosts of Beverly Drive” claims #8 on this week’s chart. It received 1,589 tracking week spins (+148).

Nathaniel Rateliff & The Night Sweats’ “SOB” also enters the Top 10 this week. Spun 1,552 times during the tracking week (+261), the current iHeartRadio “On the Verge” song climbs three places to #10 on this week’s chart.

Editor’s Note: It appears Mediabase made changes to its alternative airplay panel this week; this week’s spin counts (and some of this week’s chart positions) differ from those first reported last week.
