Pop Evil’s “Footsteps” Stays #1 at Rock Radio; Red Sun Rising, Breaking Benjamin Go Top 5

A week-over-week spin gain allows Pop Evil’s “Footsteps” to retain its rock radio crown.

The song, which rose to the top spot on last week’s edition of the Mediabase active rock airplay chart, extends its reign on this week’s listing. It received a format-leading 2,169 plays during the September 20-26 tracking week (+59).

Spun 2,019 times during the official tracking week (-73), Shinedown’s “Cut the Cord” once again ranks as the runner-up. Five Finger Death Punch’s “Jekyll and Hyde” remains rock radio’s #3 song on the strength of its 1,630 weekly spins (-171).

The chart’s first movement occurs at the #4 position. That slot plays host to Red Sun Rising’s “The Otherside,” which is making its inaugural Top 5 appearance. Up two places from last week’s position, the song received 1,520 tracking week spins (+88).

Breaking Benjamin’s “Angels Fall” also makes its first Top 5 appearance. Up two places, it grabs #5 on the strength of its 1,421 tracking week spins (+57).

— Mediabase’s active rock airplay chart also welcomes a new addition to its Top 10. Chris Cornell’s “Nearly Forgot My Broken Heart,” that song, rises one place to #10 on the strength of its 1,062 weekly plays (+75).
