Pop Radio Listeners are Loving Taylor Swift’s “Wildest Dreams”

Predictable given the format’s characteristically strong response to recent Taylor Swift music, new single “Wildest Dreams” is scoring very well with pop radio listeners.

According to the latest Mediabase/CMM callout report, the fifth “1989” single boasts a positive reaction from a whopping 74.2% of surveyed listeners, a negative reaction from only 14.1% of listeners and a net positive score of 60.0%.

Of the 33 pop songs measured in this week’s callout report, “Wildest Dreams” holds the best score for all three measures.

The song also boasts an impressive “favorite” score of 38.0%. Only The Weeknd’s “The Hills” possesses a stronger mark in that column (38.6%).

Despite being new to the market, “Wildest Dreams” boasts a familiarity score of 83.3%. In addition to confirming a strong level of recognition, the familiarity score also suggests the above positive marks will not markedly decline in the coming weeks.

Whereas many strong-scoring new singles normalize as familiarity increases, “Wildest Dreams” is already familiar to a substantial percentage of the market. Its scores thus already account for a broad segment of the market and thus stand a good chance of sticking in the coming weeks.
