While Carrie Underwood’s “Little Toy Guns” earned the top spot on this week’s Mediabase country radio singles chart, Blake Shelton’s “Sangria” claims the peak position on Billboard’s corresponding Country Airplay chart.
In reaching #1 on the audience-driven listing, “Sangria” becomes Shelton’s fifteenth-straight number one single. It is twentieth chart-topper of his career.
The song’s #1 position is attributable to the 46.924 million audience impressions (+2.127 million) it received during the most recent tracking week. Underwood’s “Little Toy Guns,” which claims the runner-up spot on Billboard’s chart, received 45.517 million (+3.679 million).
“Sangria” followed “Neon Light” and “Lonely Tonight (featuring Ashley Monroe)” as the third single from Shelton’s “Bringing Back the Sunshine.” Both of those topped the Mediabase chart in addition to Billboard Country Airplay.
It remains to be seen if “Sangria,” which was #2 this past week, will also reach the apex of the Mediabase listing.
