Kacey Musgraves’ “Pageant Material” Pacing for 50-55,000 First Week Sales

Kacey Musgraves’ critically acclaimed “Pageant Material” is tracking as the week’s third-best-selling new release.

According to Hits Daily Double, the follow-up to Musgraves’ Grammy-winning “Same Trailer Different Park” is set to shift 50-55,000 first week copies in the US. 2013’s “STDP” debuted with 42,000 opening week sales.

With TEA (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and SEA (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) included, the album’s first week consumption total should land in the range of 55-60,000 units.

While country radio has not been kind to Musgraves’ recent singles, including lead “Pageant” track “Biscuits,” her overall profile–and trophy case–has grown considerably since the launch of “Same Trailer Different Park.” Of the week’s major new releases, “Pageant Material” also received the most notable release month media exposure.

Its sales figure will, nonetheless, trail that of Breaking Benjamin’s “Dark Before Dawn” (~135-145,000) and Tori Kelly’s “Unbreakable Smile” (~60-65,000).
