Adam Lambert’s “The Original High” Debuts with ~42K Sales

Unable to compete with either the sales total posted by James Taylor’s “Before This World” or the mark set by predecessor “Trespassing,” Adam Lambert’s “The Original High” nonetheless performed respectably in context.

According to Nielsen Music, the album shifted approximately 42,000 US copies during the June 15-21 tracking week. That earns it a #2 debut on the Billboard Top Album Sales chart.

With Track Equivalent Albums (10 single sales = 1 album sale) and Streaming Equivalent Albums (1500 single streams = 1 album sale) included, the album boasts an opening week consumption total of 47,000 units. That earns it the #3 spot on the revamped Billboard 200; “Before This World” and Taylor Swift’s “1989” land higher.

“Trespassing,” Lambert’s previous album, debuted atop the BB200 with 77,000 sales. Lambert’s 2009 debut “For Your Entertainment” opened at #3 with sales of 198,000.
