Ratings: “Late Late Show” Hits Viewership High Out of “Letterman” Finale

Airing out of the final episode of David Letterman’s iconic “Late Show,” Wednesday’s “The Late Late Show with James Corden” set a franchise high in viewership.

According to fast national data, the episode drew 4.01 million viewers. No “Late Late” episode, regardless of host, has ever reached a larger audience.

Featuring a cold open cameo from Sting, “Carpool Karaoke” with Justin Bieber and interview appearances by Halle Berry and Jeffrey Dean Morgan, the episode also scored a 1.1 adults 18-49 rating and a 1.4 adults 25-54 rating. The former is the franchise’s best since December 19, 2005, while the latter is the highest since December 1, 2005.

In drawing 13.76 million viewers, the aforementioned “Late Show with David Letterman” finale was the series’ most-watched edition since February 25, 1994. That episode received lead-in support from the Winter Olympics.

The episode’s 3.1 adults 18-49 rating and 4.1 adults 25-54 rating were the series’ best since December 1, 2005. Oprah appeared on that episode.
