Ratings do not lose all importance the moment a series is renewed for an additional season.
That renewal does, however, make it easier to overlook week-to-week fluctuations in performance.
As a result, those supportive of “Orphan Black” will likely refrain from sweating the decline suffered by this week’s episode.
Saturday’s edition of “Orphan Black” drew a 0.16 adults 18-49 rating with 406,000 total viewers. Both numbers were down from those of the previous episode, which drew a 0.19 with 443,000 viewers.
Beneath the 420,000 drawn by the April 26 episode, the viewership mark actually represents a two-year low for the show. Not since season one has “Orphan Black” drawn a smaller live+same-day viewership number.
The adults 18-49 rating narrowly bests that episode’s 0.14.
BBC America last week announced that “Orphan Black” has been renewed for a ten episode fourth season.
