ABC’s Pate & Fishburne Drama Now Called “Oil;” Chace Crawford, Don Johnson Star

ABC’s “Untitled Pate & Fishburne Project” officially has a title.

Picked up last week and slated to be formally introduced at this week’s ABC upfront presentation, the drama is now known as “Oil.”

Prior to last week’s order, the pilot was tentatively labeled “Boom.”

One of multiple ABC drama pickups, “Oil” stars Don Johnson, Chace Crawford and Rebecca Rittenhouse as Hap, Billy and Cody, respectively.

“Billy and Cody Lefever dream of a new life beyond their working class roots and move to ‘The Bakken’ in North Dakota, booming after the biggest oil discovery in American history,” says ABC’s synopsis. “They’re soon pitted against a ruthless tycoon who forces them to bet big and put everything on the line, including their marriage.”

ABC says the full cast includes “Don Johnson as Hap, Chace Crawford as Billy, Rebecca Rittenhouse as Cody, Delroy Lindo as Tip, Amber Valletta as Carla, Scott Michael Foster as Wick, India De Beaufort as Jules, Yani Gellman as AJ and Caitlin Carver as Lacey.”

Last week, ABC shared an official photo that included cast members Johnson, Crawford, Rittenhouse, Valletta, Foster, Gellman and Carver. It has since issued a replacement photo (above and below) that does not include Gellman or Carver.

“Oil” was written by Josh Pate and Rodes Fishburne. Tony Krantz, Josh Pate, Rodes Fishburne, Drew Comins and Don Johnson are executive producers.
