Muse’s “Dead Inside” Hits #1 at Alt Radio; Breaking Benjamin’s “Failure” Tops Rock

Last week, AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” and Zac Brown Band’s “Heavy is the Head (featuring Chris Cornell)” retained their respective positions atop the Mediabase alternative and active rock airplay charts.

This week, new songs claim the alternative and active rock thrones.

Now on top at alternative is Muse’s “Dead Inside.” The single from Muse’s forthcoming “Drones,” which was #2 last week, earns the #1 spot on the strength of its ~2,632 tracking week spins.

“Hollow Moon,” which received ~2,444 spins during the May 3-9 tracking week, slips to #2 on this week’s chart. Death Cab for Cutie’s “Black Sun” (~2,353 spins) holds at #3, while Foo Fighters’ “Congregation” rises one spot to #4 (~2,148 spins) and Mumford & Sons’ “Believe” drops a place to #5 (~2,074 spins).

Rock’s new leader is Breaking Benjamin’s “Failure.” Up one place this week, the lead “Dark Before Dawn” single claims #1 courtesy its ~2,034 tracking week spins.

“Heavy is the Head” slips to #2 with ~1,937 spins. The Pretty Reckless’ “Follow Me Down,” which received ~1,402 plays during the tracking week, holds at a distant #3, while Slash’s “Bent to Fly” rises one place to a new peak of #4 (~1,369 spins) and Theory of a Deadman’s new “Angel” jumps one spot to #5 (~1,310 spins).
