Adam Lambert’s “Ghost Town” Goes Top 40 at Hot AC, Nears Top 40 at Pop

Twice the most added song at hot adult contemporary, Adam Lambert’s “Ghost Town” is also gaining traction on the format’s airplay chart.

“Ghost Town,” which is the lead single from Lambert’s “The Original High,” rises ten places to a new high of #33 on this week’s Mediabase hot adult contemporary airplay chart.

The song’s new position comes courtesy the 576 spins it received during the May 3-9 tracking week. That count bests last week’s total by a solid 200.

Now an official member of Hot AC’s Top 40, “Ghost Town” is nearing that distinction on the pop airplay chart. Up nine places, it grabs pop’s #42 slot on the strength of its 1,057 weekly spins (+402). Barring a sudden downturn in airplay, it stands a good chance of reaching the Top 40 in time for next week’s edition of the chart.

— Also new to Hot AC’s Top 40: Fall Out Boy’s “Uma Thurman” (#37, +5). Madonna’s “Ghosttown” re-enters at #40 (+1).

— New to pop’s Top 40: Britney Spears & Iggy Azalea’s “Pretty Girls” (#23, new), Nicki Minaj’s “The Night is Still Young” (#28, +14) and Pitbull’s “Fun (featuring Chris Brown)” (#37, +4). Like Lambert’s “Ghost Town,” OMI’s “Cheerleader” (#41, +6) is on the verge of reaching the Top 40.
