ABC Renews “Last Man Standing” for Season 5

“Last Man Standing” is still standing.

According to a report first published by Deadline, ABC has renewed the veteran Tim Allen comedy for a fifth season.

Given the Friday comedy’s reliable, if unspectacular, performance, its status was never in jeopardy from a ratings standpoint. Like last year, extra negotiations between ABC and producing studio 20th Century Fox were nonetheless needed to iron out an official renewal deal.

The bulk of ABC’s renewaland cancellation–announcements came earlier this week.

Previously reported from a conditional standpoint, it is now a fact that Matt Berry will replace Tim Doyle as the “Last Man Standing” showrunner.

ABC has not yet issued its 2015-16 schedule, but most expect “LMS” to remain in its Friday timeslot.
