Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” Retains #1 at Pop; Hits #1 at Hot AC

Despite suffering a fairly sizable week-over-week spin gain, Ellie Goulding’s “Love Me Like You Do” earns a third straight week atop the Mediabase pop airplay chart.

This week’s #1 position comes on the strength of the song’s ~17,624 tracking week spins. Down 878 from last week’s total, the count nonetheless keeps “Love Me” ahead of The Weeknd’s surging “Earned It.”

Up to #2 this week, the fellow “50 Shades of Grey” single earned 16,727 spins during the April 26-May 2 tracking week. It appears poised to overtake the Goulding song on the coming week’s chart.

Both songs are multi-format success stories. “Love Me Like You Do” this week rises to #1 on the Mediabase Hot Adult Contemporary chart (~6,754 spins) and #9 on adult contemporary (~1,361), while “Earned It” holds #1 positions at both rhythmic (~6,730) and urban (~4,072) radio.

As for pop, the balance of the Top 5 includes Natalie La Rose’s “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” (#3, ~15,467 spins), Maroon 5’s “Sugar” (#4, ~13,496) and Jason Derulo’s “Want to Want Me” (#5, ~12,984). Up one place, the lattermost song makes its first Top 5 appearance this week.

Hot AC’s Top 5 also includes Maroon 5’s “Sugar” (#2, ~6,731), Taylor Swift’s “Style” (#3, ~6,635), Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” (#4, ~6,423) and Mark Ronson’s “Uptown Funk (featuring Bruno Mars)” (#5, ~5,396).
