In slotting the series on Fridays, TBS had no illusion about its “Meet the Smiths” emerging as a blockbuster.
As the series approaches its final two first season episodes, the relevant question is therefore whether its modest ratings average aligns with what the network was expecting.
Going into this Friday’s broadcast, “Meet the Smiths” is attracting an average of 562,000 viewers per episode. Its average adults 18-49 rating clocks in 0.21.
Four episodes have aired thus far.
After premiering on April 3 with a 0.22 rating and 555,000 viewers, “Smiths” followed with a 0.20 and 572,000 on April 10 and a 0.24 with 596,000 viewers on April 17.
Opposite ABC’s high-profile Bruce Jenner interview, the April 24 edition then drew a series low 0.18 rating with 525,000 viewers.
The fifth “Meet the Smiths” episode airs on May 1. The sixth, which is the season finale, is slated for May 8.
“Meet the Smiths” centers on Kenny Smith, his wife Gwendolyn Osborne-Smith and the couple’s five children.
