The number one spot on this week’s edition of the Mediabase rhythmic airplay chart?
The Weeknd “Earned It.”
Thanks to a strong week-over-week airplay gain, The Weeknd’s “Earned It” seizes the rhythmic airplay throne. Up two places from last week’s position, it earns #1 on the strength of its ~6,687 weekly spins.
Its week-over-week spin gain of ~639 ranks as the format’s second-greatest. Only Rihanna’s “Bitch Better Have My Money,” which soars nine places to #15, enjoyed a greater weekly gain (~+1,070 spins).
In rising to #1, “Earned It” pushes Natalie La Rose’s “Somebody (featuring Jeremih)” to #2. It received ~6,635 spins during the April 5-11 tracking week.
La Rose’s track does, however, score some payback on the weekly pop airplay chart. Thanks to a late week surge, it scores the greatest gainer honor at that format this week. “Earned It” won the distinction in the previous two tracking weeks.
Other Top 5 songs on this week’s rhythmic chart include Chris Brown & Tyga’s “Ayo” (#3, ~5,808 spins), Nicki Minaj’s “Truffle Butter (featuring Drake and Lil Wayne)” (#4, ~5,282 spins) and Flo Rida’s “GDFR (featuring Sage the Gemini and Lookas)” (#5, ~4,863 spins).
— The Weeknd’s multi-format hit “Earned It” also makes moves on the weekly urban, pop and hot adult contemporary charts. It jumps one place to #3 at urban, two places to #7 at pop and two places to #20 at Hot AC.
