Foo Fighters’ “Congregation” Stays #1 at Rock, Mumford & Sons’ “Believe” Tops Alt

The top spots on the Mediabase active rock and alternative airplay charts belong to songs from juggernaut bands.

— The active rock chart again falls in favor of Foo Fighters’ “Congregation.” Despite suffering a week-over-week spin decline, the second “Sonic Highways” single holds off The Offspring’s surging “Coming for You” and retains #1.

According to Mediabase, “Congregation” received 1,889 active rock plays during the March 29-April 4 tracking week. Runner-up “Coming for You” garnered 1,814 spins.

Other top performers at active rock include The Pretty Reckless’ #3 “Follow Me Down” (1,739 spins), Halestorm’s #4 “Apocalyptic” (1,632 spins) and Slash’s #5 “Bent to Fly” (1,271 spins).

— Alternative, meanwhile, welcomes a new number one in Mumford & Sons’ “Believe.” Up one place this week, the lead “Wilder Mind” single reaches the peak on the strength of its 2,542 tracking week spins.

Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire,” which topped last week’s chart, slips to #3 this week (2,224 spins). AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” rises into the #2 spot courtesy its 2,315 plays.

Robert DeLong’s “Long Way Down” (#4, 2,068 spins) and Walk the Moon’s “Shut Up and Dance” (#5, 2,065) also appear within the weekly top five.
