Mumford & Sons’ “Believe” Reaches #11 at Alternative Radio

Thanks to its sizable opening week airplay, Mumford & Sons’ ‘Believe” is set to debut at #11 on Mediabase’s official alternative airplay chart. That chart will be published Sunday evening.

The song, which is the lead single from the Grammy-winning act’s “Wilder Mind,” earned approximately 1,520 spins during the March 8-14 tracking week. That ranks as the alternative format’s eleventh-largest.

It ranks even more impressively from an audience standpoint. “Believe” garnered approximately 7.496 million alternative audience impressions during its first week of release. That ranks as the alternative format’s fifth-largest audience total.

Of relevance is the fact that “Believe” did not even debut until Monday, March 9. The aforementioned airplay and audience totals do not even include a full tracking week’s (Sunday-Saturday) worth of availability.

Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire” spends a second week at #1 on this week’s alternative airplay chart. AWOLNATION’s “Hollow Moon (Bad Wolf)” (#3, +4) and George Ezra’s “Budapest” (#5, +1) reach the top five, while Florence + The Machine’s “What Kind of Man” (#9, +2) enters the top ten.

— Mumford & Sons’ “Believe” also debuts impressively on Triple A radio. The song claims #9 at a format also ruled by Modest Mouse’s “Lampshades on Fire.”

— It also starts within the Top 50 of the hot adult contemporary airplay chart.
