Florida Georgia Line is synonymous with the bro country sub-genre addressed on Maddie & Tae’s breakthrough single “Girl in a Country Song.”
Florida Georgia Line also falls under the same Big Machine Label Group umbrella as Maddie & Tae.
Either perspective establishes a connection between the duos.
That connection adds color to this week’s edition of the Mediabase country airplay chart, which welcomes songs from both Florida Georgia Line and Maddie & Tae into its top 40.
Florida Georgia Line enters with new single “Sippin’ On Fire.” The track, which is the third release from the duo’s “Anything Goes,” flies to #33 (+8) on this week’s points-driven* Mediabase chart. It commanded 1,455 spins and 11.26 million audience impressions during the March 1-7 tracking week.
“Sippin’ on Fire” is the follow-up to #1 country radio hit “Sun Daze,” which itself followed a #1 in “Dirt.”
Maddie & Tae’s top forty position comes courtesy new single “Fly.” Up two places this week, “Fly” grabs the #40 position on Mediabase’s chart.
The song, which is the follow-up to the duo’s chart-topping debut single “Girl in a Country Song,” received 983 weekly spins and 5.16 million audience impressions.
“Fly” appeared on the duo’s self-titled 2014 EP and will also be featured on Maddie & Tae’s forthcoming studio debut “Start Here.”
*Unlike the other charts, which are driven purely by airplay, Mediabase’s country chart relies on a proprietary scoring system that ascribes point totals to spins from each market.
