No longer active on the key alternative airplay charts, BANKS’ “Beggin for Thread” now begins a crossover run at hot adult contemporary radio.
The song is already one of the format’s fifty most-played tracks.
According to Mediabase, the song commanded 176 spins during the week between February 19 and February 25. Up 103 from last week’s count, the total was the alternative format’s 49th-largest within that seven day window.
The song has a long way to go before it can be considered a legitimate hot adult contemporary success story, but the early airplay is encouraging — and definitely enough to earn “Beggin for Thread” a position on the format’s radar.
Supported by the iHeartRadio “On the Verge” program, “Begging for Thread” peaked inside the Top 15 on the Mediabase and Billboard alternative airplay charts.
In pursuing airplay at hot adult contemporary, it aims to follow in the footsteps of crossover tracks like Milky Chance’s “Stolen Dance,” Vance Joy’s “Riptide” and Big Data’s “Dangerous (featuring Joywave).” The former two, which hit #1 at their core alternative formats, are also alumni of the “On the Verge” program.
