Ratings: FOX’s “Empire” Rises Once Again (Updated)

Update: Final broadcast data paints an even more favorable picture of FOX’s juggernaut “Empire.”

Wednesday’s episode delivered a 4.8 adults 18-49 rating with 11.96 million viewers. Up from last week’s 4.6 with 11.47 million, the performance includes a series high in A18-49 and the fifth consecutive gain (and thus a series high) in total viewers.

The series’ “American Idol” lead-in drew a 2.8 with 10.66 million viewers.

=============

After obliterating expectations with its premiere performance, FOX’s “Empire” spent the next several weeks ridiculing tradition. The series, which premiered as a monster, has enjoyed a viewership increase for each subsequent telecast.

And while it did suffer one weekly decline in adults 18-49, the 4.6 it delivered for last Wednesday’s broadcast represented its best demo rating yet.

Whether one looks at the series’ initial performance level, its most recent performance level or the growth that led from point A to point B, he will doubtfully be able to find anything to discredit the idea that “Empire” is clicking with audiences.

He will certainly struggle to discredit this week’s performance.

Per fast national data, Wednesday’s “Empire” drew an improved 4.7 adults 18-49 rating with 11.92 million viewers. Both represent series highs for “Empire,” which drew a 4.6 and 11.47 million viewers in last week’s final nationals.

Both also represent growth from the episode’s “American Idol” lead-in. “Idol” drew a 2.7 with 10.40 million viewers from 8-9PM ET.
