Tori Kelly’s “Nobody Love” Impacting Pop with “On the Verge” Boost

Touted by powerhouses like MTV and USA Today as an “Artist to Watch,” pop singer-songwriter Tori Kelly is no stranger to support from music industry tastemakers.

She has never received support quite like this.

iHeartRadio today announced that Tori Kelly’s “Nobody Love” is its new “On the Verge” selection for the pop format. The song formally impacts radio this week.

Not simply a recognition of Kelly’s ability, the “On the Verge” distinction also comes with guaranteed airplay from the pop format’s iHeartMedia stations.

The “On the Verge” airplay boost helped thrust eventual #1 hits like Tove Lo’s “Habits (Stay High)” and Nick Jonas’ “Jealous” onto the radar and now assures Tori Kelly will not simply be an artist pop fans hear about but one they actually hear.

While the Max Martin co-write represents a departure from the sound featured on her previous EPs, Kelly tells iHeartMedia that it is very consistent with her overall vision.

“In my head, this is the style of music I always envisioned myself doing: urban pop with a hip-hop type of Lauryn Hill twist on it,” says Kelly. “I was always a singer first, then the guitar made its way in on its own. A song like ‘Nobody Love’ was always the vision. This is where I knew I would end up.”
