Grammys Ratings Peak for Miranda, Kanye, Madonna Performances

CBS’ Grammy Awards broadcast loaded its 8:30PM half hour with performance from three very popular, very diverse performers, and the effort resulted in the night’s highest-rated portion.

Per fast national data, the aforementioned half hour drew a show-best 9.4 adults 18-49 rating. That section of the broadcast featured performances by Miranda Lambert, Madonna and Kanye West. It also included Sam Smith’s win for Pop Vocal Album and Beck’s win for Rock Album.

The next-highest-rated segment came between 9:30PM and 10PM. That portion, which drew a 9.3, featured Miranda Lambert’s Country Album win, Pharrell’s performance, Katy Perry’s performance, the Imagine Dragons commercial and the beginning of the Lady Gaga-Tony Bennett performance.

The 9PM portion was the third-highest-rated of the six primetime hours. It scored a 9.2 with Beyonce and Jay Z’s win for Best R&B Performance, the two Ed Sheeran collaborations, the Gwen Stefani-Adam Levine duet and Hozier’s duet with Annie Lennox.

The 8:30PM-9PM half hour also led from a total viewership standpoint; it drew an average of 28.55 million viewers. The 9-9:30PM half hour followed with 27.55 million, while the 9:30PM-10PM portion averaged 26.96 million.
