Despite airing opposite CBS’ coverage of the 57th Annual Grammy Awards, AMC’s Sunday night drama lineup fared very well in the ratings.
The premiere of “Breaking Bad” spin-off/prequel series “Better Call Saul,” which aired in the 10PM slot, drew 6.9 million total viewers with 4.4 million (3.4 rating) in the adults 18-49 demographic. It was the top-rated series premiere in cable history.
Helping that cause was the midseason premiere of “The Walking Dead.” Despite the intense competition, Sunday’s episode nearly matched the February 2014 midseason bow. It drew 15.6 million viewers (versus 15.8 million last year) with 10.1 million (8.0 rating) in the adults 18-49 demographic.
Last year’s midseason premiere posted an 8.2 adults 18-49 rating.
